Operator's sewing skill is one of the important key of well-balanced production line. How do you managing the operator's skill matrix?
We put little focus on operator's sewing stability to see how operator is working throughout the day.

We studied around 1,100 operator's sewing data from our new service called 1-Line Assessment (1LA).
With 1LA we are able to study all the cycle data which operator performed. From this accumulated information,
we calculated stability of the operator by measuring the variety % against the average cycle time (Coefficient of variation).
From the study result, we found that 79% of the operators have more than ±10% difference against average cycle time.
Which means, needless to say, operator cannot follow 100% on set standard time.

To stabilize your production line, there are 3 points to be checked.

1. Operator skill
2. Work distribution and line balancing
3. Sewing machine condition.

When we check the factory, there will be the difference in operator's skill level. New operator stitches slower than the experienced operator.
When there is a process which have uncommon or new design, those process might need some time getting used to it. We need to find out whether they require additional support by checking data to cover up their performance and stability.
Those two actions of checking operator skill and work distribution will help to recover other operator's stability and also it will create smooth flow to your production.
One more thing to be checked is sewing machine condition. Due to adjustment, operator might face a lot of difficulty to stitch continuously.
